Note:
I've read the 3 books on magic for Marvel and I've also read the threads about it in character creation. Aspen shared information passed to her via CG. It is quite possible (actually- probable and an out right guarantee) that I totally messed up the spells. I did them the best as I could, but have absolutely no intention to make some suped up character who can do everything. so any advice/information/help on that would be just awesome.

He currently can cast 9 spells without his rod. It is required for all other magics that he can cast.
Attempting to cast one of them without the rod imposes a -2CS to any and all qualities of the magic
Using the rod to cast one of the 9 spells he has mastered imposes no benefit or penalty- though he
prefers to do so simply out of habit.
The rod has a been imbued with a Breakable rank of Unearthly, but is inappropriately balanced for combat and was not created with such in mind.
Grimoire:
John has personally written his own set of Grimoires while under the tutelage of his master. It contains formulae and rituals necessary to draw the magic from the world and shape it to his control.
They have no spells or details out of any category marked "None" above.
Clothing:
John's clothing is NOT magical. However, he prefers to refer to it as such when using his Abjuration spells- mostly just for the effect of foes thinking he's all covered in magical gear.
History:
One Hundred and twenty three years ago a child was born in New Salem, Colorado. A witch and a warlock had themselves a bouncing baby boy with sparkling blue eyes.
A small handful of years later they had also a girl, and then another girl- one of which also was born with the spark of magic.
From birth until the age of 9 he knew nothing but a happy if simple childhood. While his parents were not necessarily "rich" they also were not wanting for the necessaries of life. They tried to teach him their ways of magic, each attempt failing just as had the last. They very much feared their son had no magical talent at all.
That fear faded on John's 9th naming day.
On November 14th 1897 a man came to their simple home. A family friend he was, though he didn't come around often. While he was from earth he seldom ventured here anymore. Upon meeting the boy, he knew immediately what the problem was. He wasn't without magic- he just wasn't a Warlock like his father. His blood, it seemed, sang with the magic of ancient Atlantis. They were not happy to give up their son to this man but they also knew they had no choice. He would never reach his potential under their care and tutelage. They said their good byes and sent their young son off with this.. man.
Anthemos was the name this man gave and through the rest of John's life, the man gave no other. He did however do other things with names. on the 50th anniversary of John's birth, he reanointed him Laodares. Anthemos himself claimed to be of Atlantean descent and it was that kind of magic he taught to young John. And thus, on the age appropriate, he bid him shed the name of his simple folk and acquire one he thought more appropriate.
At that time, on the day of his true Naming, Laodares ceased to be the pupil of Anthemos and instead went on to be his Disciple.
They left the Earth behind and traveled other worlds, other dimensions.
Together they explored not just the hows of magic, but the whys and the wherefores. For thirty years they traveled hither and yon- even taking occasion to revisit earth now and again.
On the 80th anniversary of his birth, Anthemos took his Disciple and anointed him again, this time as an Adept. In so doing, he also "cut the apron strings" so to speak and left the young mage to his own devices on Earth.
In the 53 years since that fateful day, he's only scarcely seen his Master, Mentor, and Friend. It seems he drops by once a decade or so just to make sure Laodares hasn't set fire to the world or something in his ever-broadening quest to learn more magic.
In the 10th year of his return to Earth he ran across a most interesting thing. His sister. It turns out, unbenowst to him, that she herself had become quite the witch since their departure over a century ago. In the time since their meeting they've come into contact quite abit. Recently, she seems to have come into ownership of a book store specializing in magical and otherwise enchanted books and scrolls and has had occasion to ask his help in running the place.
He has accepted.. and that, is where the story resumes...
