History:
Moon Knight Started as a hero of vengeance, serving the ancient Egyptian god of the Moon Khonshu. What gave this character so much edge was he fought to save his soul. Beleiving that Khonshu resurected him to do good with his life, Marc Spector decided to redeem his life of crime as a mercenary and become a force for good. He took up the symbolic mantle of the Moon and became Moon Knight: the Fist of Khonshu.
To accomplish the complicated task of ridding the world of evil deeds, Marc Spector took up the alias' of several other people from different social classes to get his hands into everything he could. The two frequent identities beeing Steven Grant: Millionaire Playboy with creative spending techniques (mooching off of Spector's ill gotten funds), and Jake Lockley: Streetsmart cabby with a nack for getting good information (usually from Crawley at Gena's bar).
Over time, the multiple personalities took their toll on Spector and he eventually had a nervous breakdown. This was damaging to his psyche and added some serious tension between his relation with Marlene.
During a fight with a two bit villan (the fly) Moon Knight got careless and exposed himself to a cripling attack. Spectors spine was seriously damaged and took him out of the game for some time (estimated a year). It took the death of a passionate russian performer for Spector to regain the desire to walk again, and become Moon Knight.
Moon Knight spent some time running with the Defenders, and then with the West Coast Avengers. Moon Knight is the kind of Hero who works best alone (as long as he has his copilot of course), so permanent relations were never made.
