History:
Cerise is a native of the planet Shaskofrugnon, a "Warrior of the Ghrand Jhar [and] Genestock of Subruki, Zarstock and Kuli Ka". She was a soldier and starship navigator in the Shi'Ar empire. She had been part of a Shi’Ar crew whose over-zealous commander ordered genocide to an alien world. Cerise could not bring herself to kill innocent people and when her commander and crew would not listen to reason, she resorted to destroying their recruitment vessel. She navigated the ship into an asteroid, crashing it and subsequently killing the unreasonable crew. Her body was catapulted into space in the crash and she eventually crash-landed in basement of the then active team Excalibur’s lighthouse base in northern Scotland.
She joined the British super-team in their fight against Necrom, proving to be a good team player and at one point being romantically involved with Nightcrawler. It didn't last long though when Cerise was captured by the Shi'Ar and brought back to the empire to stand trial for her crimes. Even though the empress at that time, Lilandra Neramani, understood Cerise’s conflict and even though her decision was justified, she still had to be punished for defying direct orders from a superior officer. Instead of being eternally imprisoned, Cerise was sentenced to work for the Shi’Ar empire as a law-enforcement official and personal guard to Lilandra.
Recent history
Years later, Cerise was sent to earth on Lilandra's order, to locate and apprehend Rachel Summers and bring her to justice in the Empire for crimes committed while in the form of the Dark Phoenix. Being reunited with her old team mates on Earth she found herself conflicted with her task and an intergalactic showdown took place as the Shi'ar empress sent the Gladiator to fulfil Cerise's task.
By means of part force, part negotiation and some luck, an arrangement was carried out that meant Cerise would remain stationed on earth to 'guard' against the Dark Phoenix, thus sparing Rachel lifetime imprisonment in the Shi'ar empire – the punishment Cerise had escaped herself some years before. In reality the ruling meant Cerise was incorporated with the X-men, joining the Gold battle team and when no threat to mankind or planet Earth was present she would teach and take part in training new, young mutants in the spirit of Charles Xavier.
Never picking up the relationship with Nightcrawler again, the two maintained a collegial friendship. While adjusting to earth life again Cerise fared alone until meeting the secretive genius known as G.A.L. or simply "George". The two became a very close yet somewhat odd couple, much to their fellow teammates' gleeful amusement. Thus it was inevitably traumatic for both of them when Cerise suddenly and without forewarning was, supposedly, called back from earth. One day she disappeared without a word of goodbye and it's yet unknown what reasons lay behind it.
