Gifting - Amazing
Lexi has a compulsion to give people stuff. She doesn't know why they need it or how they will use it, but it invariably comes in handy at some point in their lives. It is an automatic, intuitive gift (magical, not mutant, in nature) that she has no control over. It works in two ways: either she will see someone and feel compelled to gift that person with something, or she will see an object and feel compelled to give it to someone in particular - sometimes she knows the person, and sometimes it will only be a face, someone that she has yet to meet.
Talents/Abilities: Student, Trivia (literature and old movies), Writer, Library Science
Equipment: a satchel that she carries at all times, filled with things she must give to people. It has no more than 20 items in it at a time, and these items will change and rotate as she gives them away. Please see below for a list of the items she is currently carrying.
Weaknesses: normal human weaknesses
History:
The first time Lexi had to give something to someone, she was six years old. She found a beautiful, smooth black rock and immediately at to give it to Aiden Quinn, a boy in her class at school. Two nights later, he threw that rock at her window and woke her up to tell her he would walk with her to school the next day. After that, they were inseparable - the best of friends. Their friendship continued all the way through high school and when they left their hometown to attend Empire State, they discovered that their friendship had blossomed into something more. In her small hometown, Lexi's gift was accepted - everyone knew that when Lexi Talbot gave you something, you needed to hang on to it. In the Big Apple, it was different. She was laughed at, called names, and generally shunned by most people. Aiden stood by her, however, steadfast and supportive. He understood Lexi in a way that she wasn't sure she even understood about herself.
And Lexi never felt the need to give Aiden anything again, until the day after they graduated college. She was walking past a store when she suddenly felt the need to buy him a new blazer. Turns out, it was because he didn't own a nice one to be buried in after being killed in a car accident a week later.
It's been one year, three months, and eleven days since then and Lexi still lays awake at night wondering what would have happened if she had refused to buy that jacket. But it isn't as if she has a choice - when she has to give someone something, she has to give it to them.
